Happy New Year! Like many of you, I scoured the internet to find ideas to kick off my year with one goal for 2022: decluttering my life. The idea of finding the right guide to help me was overwhelming. It’s hard to know where to start and to overthink every aspect of decluttering your home.
Most of the decluttering guides I came across were very good, thorough, and outlined everything I needed to focus on to declutter every room in my house. Fantastic, right? I found myself overthinking the process, what to buy, where to store things, what to get rid, etc. That is when I decided to create my own plan to declutter my home based on a realistic timeline and the amount of effort I would need to successfully declutter my home in 30 days.
This challenge is designed to make it much easier by giving you one thing to tackle every day for 30 days. You don’t have to focus on one room specifically. Some days you will only spend a few minutes and some days you might spend hours on each task. Also, it’s like bingo, you can mark every single square each time you complete a task and claim your prize at the end of the 30 days!
Here are three tips to help you get started with decluttering your home in 2022.
1. Set Goals
The key to activating your mental superpowers and intentions is to get it all down on paper as if you were mapping out a plan. This is where writing your goals down can help with areas of your home you want to focus on decluttering. There are planners or journals to write down your declutter goals that are designed with daily, weekly, monthly calendars and templated to-do-lists.
2. Storage
My favorite part of decluttering is shopping for containers and organizers. When you write down which rooms you are tackling for the 30-day declutter challenge, you can also write a list of storage containers and organizers you might need.
3. Declutter Plan
The hardest part of getting started…is getting started! I created a 30 day declutter planner that is designed to check off one task a day that you can use as a guide.
